If you hunt with a dog you know what a great thing it is. Upland game birds, pheasants, grouse, ducks ETC. A dog is a big investment  the price of the dog, the training, the camaraderie and friendship you have is priceless. When you are out buying your hunting supplies, shells, guns, ETC don’t forget your biggest investment, your dog. I found a really cool HI VIZ BODY GUARD for my dog that gives me allot of stress relief when I’m hunting and the dog is working in front back and forth, in tall grass or woods.

It’s great to see him or her, standing out in any situation or condition and the dogs Safety is uncompromising. Mans best friend so treat em good and have a safe hunt, guns are dangerous in the hands of untrained people, gun safety is a must for you and your dog!!! Be Safe and have a good hunt !!! Your dog will love you unconditionally!!!

Been fishing! and having some good luck! Caught some Bass and Walleyes. The Berkley Gulp has been working magic. Hooking the gulp worms in the middle letting them sink and a slow retrieve with a twitch was great for the bass in the bull rushes and a bottom walker with a 6 foot line off the bottom walker with a snelled hook and a glow bead was the ticket at sunset and into the evening for the Walleyes.

Some deadly tricks for fish that work well! We were catching the Walleyes in 12′ feet of water. The rod I was using had the cork chewed up by mice so I’m getting it re-corked and I have to share this because it has never happened to me before, the mice like to chew the cork because of the sweat and salt in your hand that penetrates the cork. When you put your rods away for the season wash the cork with liquid detergent or shampoo and the mice won’t touch them!!!! Been fishing a long time and I just learned this expensive lesson! Just wanted to share this with you! Good luck fishing and be safe! Were never to old to learn!

Were heading up to northern Minnesota this weekend to visit friends and family for Memorial Day weekend and she wants to bring her Huffy Mountain Bike along. And  I guess it would be fun to  bring mine along, the mountain bikes do a good job on the dirt roads and it’s good exercise too!  It’s just another way to enjoy the great outdoors, see critters, and wildlife, you just never know what to expect? Just have fun and be safe!!!

I bought a really neat bike rack that hooks onto the trunk and does great for hauling bikes, their are alot of bike racks on the market to fit your needs that hook up to your trailer hitch of your car or truck and they even have one that hooks on to your spare tire on the back of your SUV. Your bikes can go where you go safely. Have fun biking, and bring a camera, for those special moments, bring your water bottle.

Feed the fish, something good!

I launched the the boat the other day getting it ready for the opener, checking out my favorite spots and trying to get a strategy for opening fishing. In Minnesota land of 10,000 lakes every sportsman takes his woman out on a date for opener because it always is on Mothers Day the 10th. I can’t tell you how lucky I am for her to say YES! I’ll go with you!!!! Rain or shine. I don’t want to dissapoint her so I  plan for the great event and make sure the boat works ETC,

I’m going to get some Berkley Power Bait the fish seem to love it, it never dies and it’s a good choice for the sweetie!! She can handle it  and gives great results, the fish just love it! Their attracted to it, they grab it, hold on longer, just a good all around bait. The fish have 5 senses, sight, sound, smell, taste, and feel, so serve up something they like, with a slow retrieve, a little twitch, plastic worms, leaches, and minnows with smell are as good as it gets and the fish can’t resist them. Get some bait and go have fun! The Big One is waiting for you! So ring that dinner bell for the fish, mabe you too, have Fun and be Safe on your outdoor adventure.

It’s time to dust off those fishing rods, check them over, a drop of oil in the reels, and check the line. Be ready it’s getting time to be thinking about it!! I like all kinds of fishing but fishing for those Bass is way to fun for me, and the family. Their some real fighters, walking across the water on their tales, smashing surface lures, when they want it they want it!!

So get ready and get some spinners, surface baits, crank baits and have fun fishing for some Bass. There are a lot of different kinds of bass fishing lures to choose from, ask your buddies or the guy or gal at the bait store, whats hot and whats not. Colors are something to think about, water color and clarity, and the right lures, are all the keys to success. have fun outdoors on the water and catch some bass!! Be safe!!

What are good choices?

When it comes to reliability and easy operation of a fishing reel, there is the all time favorite of a spinning reel. Great for casting, with no backlashes which adds to the performance of the reel, you can adjust the drag with a click and are favorites of many pros, and amature fishing men and women!

A Lot of the reels you can buy come with an extra spool for quick changing the line or if you get a snag on a rock,  submerged tree, or weeds, its a good thing to have along. You are out fishing to have fun! So be prepared, make it a great adventure check your gear and be SAFE! That’s so important when you are in the great Outdoors, it’s there for us all to enjoy! So have a good time and some fun with the family, kids, and friends, even your dog will like it mine sure does!!

Fish finders, what an exciting tool, a must have!

There are so many fish finders on the market today that can be a man or woman’s best friend. Finding the fish is half the battle, getting them to bite is the other! The electronics out there are a great tool to dial in on success when you are fishing. A portable fish finder can find fish and give you a good understanding of bottom conditions, drop offs, and weed beds that fish love to hide in. You can educate yourself on your favorite lake or river and find fish, even on new water they are a valuable tool to have.

If you are fishing big water or the ocean, you can get GPS- fish finders so you always know how to get back to where you came from, that can be a really good feature, at night, or foggy conditions, once you loose sight of land there a must have survival tool! Check out what features you like, or need? and have fun. In the great outdoors Be safe, not sorry!

Pound the sun fish! with a fly rod!

posted by turbo @ 20:39 PM
March 27, 2009

Is anyone into fly fishing? have you ever thought of it? It takes a little practice but i’m hooked on it. It’s a fun sport to get good at and when you catch a fish it’s exciting fighting them in the current, rod bending, and landing them!  Wow it’s an outdoor rush! you won’t forget! But their are other uses for a fly rod that I was introduced too that are equaly the top of my list< Pan fishing, oh you haven’t lived untill you have caugth a few hundred sunnies on a fly rod.

This technique is awsome for pan fish, get your fly rod set up with a 1/2 oz slip weight on the line and tie a piece of monofiliment line to the fly line, about 20″ piece, with a # 2 long shanked hook with a worm or piece of night crawler, and now your ready! The reason for this  is because you can balance the rod on your index finger, right or left and can watch the tip of the rod, when it slowly goes down, give it a snap and you got them, when their biting lite, this is deadly! pinch the line under your index finger to the rod and pull em up,  grab the fly line and pull it in and swing them in the boat. after you take the fish off you can throw the line back in and you are at the same depth, it’s important, when there biting there biting and you can capitalize on that!!! And have some great fun, CHECK it out, you won’t be dissapointed! get a fly fishing reel and a rod, the 10′ rods are awsome!!!!

It’s the green generation ! Get a bike !!!

Every one is talking about going green, it’s in the news, on tv, in articles we read. As an American I think we need to be energy efficient, and I can’t think of a better way than to get a bike and go biking. It’s a healthy way to stay fit and get your exercise, save gas, and time, it sure beats walking and is easier on your joints.

You can really get around, efficently with alot less cost. every one on the globe is using bikes and the history of the bike goes back along way, and I think it’s about time I get with the program and get one. When I was a kid I bought a Schwinn Traveler 3 speed and man, that was fun getting around!! So I think it’s time to get another one just for fun!! To each his own, I’m going green!!!
